A-Z Blogging Challenge - A is for Alien

Hello all! Welcome to Untethered Realms.

If you haven't heard of it, check out the A to Z blog and join in the fun.
Here at Untethered Realms, we're taking on the Challenge as a group. Each day, one of us will be sharing with you a fantastical creature that may be from one of our books, a favorite movie, or something we just came up with as entertainment.

Today we have...

And you know what A stands for? That's right, Aliens!! I mean who hasn't seen the movie Alien or E.T. or heck even Star Wars? All classics, but what does alien mean to you? Is it a little green martian? Something horrible and terrifying like the beastly one in Alien? I honestly believe in aliens. Intelligent life forms are  out there. They have to be. This universe is way too big to have just us humans as its only intelligent life forms. Have you ever watched the show Ancient Aliens? If you haven't check it out. Some of the stuff they come up with is a little far fetched, but other stuff seems right on.

We've been visited and I think we'll be visited again. What do you think? Do you believe?

  1. Sometimes I think the clearest evidence of intelligent life forms is that we haven't been contacted. When all is said and done, we aren't even house-trained and are doing a pretty impressive job of trashing our planet...

  2. Yay, you have the honor of being the very first A2Z blog post I've read! I love it! I've been drawn to aliens and the paranormal as long as I can remember! Will look forward to reading more! Thank you and best wishes for a great A2Z challenge month!

  4. This is just a pre-AtoZ Challenge visit (well in this case, not really pre-challenge... I forgot it would already be the 01st in certain parts of the globe... time zones...) as one of the assistants representing Alex's Team Ninja Minions.
    Good luck with the challenge!
See you on the A to Z circuit!

  5. I do believe, but I think if the aliens are as intelligent as we'd like to think them, they'd wait for a little while longer before introducing themselves to Earth. I don't think it would be the warmest welcome.

    ReplyDelete
  6. I can't rule it out, but I don't believe that we have been visited. I do believe that there are other life forms out there somewhere.

  7. The universes is way to huge to think we are alone. Even with all the special things that need to have happened - scientifically - to create life.

    ReplyDelete
  8. I think so too. The only problem is communication. Until someone bridge that gap we are stuck in the rabbit hole!

And you are my first A to Z blog post. Good luck with the rest of them!
Be sure to check out my story on mutants which will be put up soon!

  9. I used to watch star trek the original series with my dad as a kid and thought it would be cool to know that there was life out there.

I hope one day we'll get to become a part of something greater.

  10. Elephant made a great point, no contact is probably one of the best signals that intelligent life lives elsewhere. Can you imagine if a group of crazy earthlings took a spaceship over to aliens minding their own business. Even we know the disaster that would follow.

  11. Hi Bonnie .. yes I like Elephant's and Sheena-Kay's comments .. honestly poor Aliens if they ever arrive.

I don't think they've been around .. but certainly we live with others ..

    Cheers Hilary

  12. I have to admit that aliens have always scared me. Since the moment I first watched ET as a child and found myself terrified (yip. Terrified of ET). Maybe it's because movies often make them about to be the ugly bad dudes trying to take over the world. (When it comes to hot aliens, though, like those from I AM NUMBER FOUR and STARCROSSED, then I'm not scared ;-) )

  13. I do believe. Have you heard the song "Calling Occupant of Interplanetary Craft" by The Carpenters?

  15. Entertainment speaking, I think there's a smorgasbord of alien choices - good, bad, ugly, and even the hotties. ;)

And for the record: we're not alone.

  16. Yes, we'd be rattling around in this huge bubble by ourselves? I think not. Other life forms are out there. Some of them live in my house too...and in my head... ;)

  17. In my recent worldbuilding article, I talk about the total number of stars in our known universe, upwards of 100 septillian. In all of that, and we are the only life? Seems a bit arrogant.

Though whether or not life has come here, there is no true way to be certain. Perhaps they have, but there is also equal chance they haven't been here...yet.

  18. I am not sure I believe in Aliens but I do know ET was cute and I did enjoy the movie. Plus Marvin the Martin is also. SO maybe there is Martains. Who knows? Not I.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I like Elephant's Child's response. Hmm... anything intelligent enough to find us might be keeping real quiet about their discovery.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I haven't seen Ancient Aliens so now I'm intrigued! And I agree with you, the universe is just too big for us to be the only ones. Cool A-post ;)

  21. With the untold number of galaxies we're only just beginning to understand are out there, I can't imagine we're the only ones in this vastness.

  23. We can't be alone. That seems more impossible. But if they're intelligent enough to be able to travel here, I think they'd be smart enough to keep their distance.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I don't believe we're alone.

Aliens terrify me in some ways, but I think it is more the unknown about them that scares me. Or I watched way too many alien episodes of Unsolved Mysteries as a child. And don't get me talking about SIGNS. *shudders*

    ReplyDelete
  25. The way the world is changing so strangely all around me -- I am beginning to feel like an alien myself!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Out of all the mythical creatures out there, Aliens are my least favorite. I blame an unfortunate movie I saw as a child that scared me to pieces! But yes, I do believe they exist...and that they aren't nearly as frightening as Hollywood and movies make them out to be. :)

    ReplyDelete
  27. It's a bit arrogant to think we are the only ones out there. I mean there's billions and billions of stars out there. Come on! But to have one visit...they'd have to be so much more advanced than what we are so why would they *want* to visit...unless they want to conquer or need our resources, in which case they wouldn't be very friendly in my opinion. :)

I love Ancient Aliens and all things alien...don't get me wrong. It really is an amazing subject. :)

  28. I think there has to be more life out there somewhere. Will they come here? Will they come in peace? I wanna know.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I am certain there is alien life out there, I am just not as certain that we have been visited. I mean really, Earth has to be the Hillbilly, Redneck "looking like the set of Deliverance" world in this galaxy. If the inhabited planets are New York, London and Paris then Earth is Hazard County!

Love the post. Can't wait to see what you do all month.

  30. Amazon Prime just got seasons of Ancient Aliens and I've been debating watching it.

Fun fact about me, I never saw the ending to ET. I was little when we rented it and since it wasn't a cartoon, I lost interest and went outside and made a snowman. It was October and I only remember that because it was way early to have snow. LOL

  31. I don't believe they've been here yet, but I do believe they'll be here one day. I think they'll send a probe out, like we did with Mars, and see who and what we are. I think it'll be interesting to see what happens when they do. Will we be peaceful and diplomatic? Or will we be violent and try to kill them?

(A to Z challenge person here. Had to come comment.)

  32. As Sagan would have said, it's an awfully big waste of space if we're alone.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Heck yes I believe!

I've seen WAY too many creepy and unbelievable things in the skies.

Believing is more fun than not believing, imo. ;)

  34. We are just a drop in this vastness known as the galaxy. There definitely is other life forms out there.

  35. Popping by from the A-Z challenge. Intriguing post...will have to think on that a bit. ;)

  36. Thanks for commenting on my blog! Glad to find your blog, great first post on the challenge. Personally, I believe they've visited, took one look at us and flew off again, lol. Going to keep an eye out for the programme you mentioned though!

  37. I so agree. We would have to be pretty self-centered to believe there isn't some sort of life out beyond our little neck of the Milky Way.

  38. Cats - there's the proof of alien life. Left behind as vermin by the pyramid builders, hence the Egyptian worshipping. And why they think they are superior to mankind. I posted on this over on my blog - on the origin of cats.

  39. I totally don't know if I'm a believer. I'd like to think there is life out there that someday we'll find and we'll be all Star Trek about it. It will be great. But then again, maybe that's what makes humans so unique? That we are so evolved enough to wonder about these kinds of things in ways that no other species can.

  40. It just seems obvious that the supreme being did not stop at our level of intelligence :) In Independence Day, the cockroaches want to take over Earth and devour its resources before moving on. But ... isn't that what we are doing?
On a lighter note, for the moment we are #1. Aloha.

  42. I believe! And I think they're a lot more intelligent than us. I might be scared to meet one, though. And definitely don't want no anal probe. LOL.

  43. I love the way they are portrayed in the Men in Black movies, like they could take on a human form, or hide in a human body, and they could be your wacky neighbor!

  44. As a sci-fi fan, I always thought it was odd that most of the "alien" species in TV and movies were bipeds. Thankfully, people are a lot more creative now.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I'm not sure I'm a believer....but it's an interesting thought, I must admit! :D

    ReplyDelete
  46. I think there has to be life out there--I went to the Roswell UFO conference a few years ago and even though a lot of the people there were a bit odd, there were enough hard science, educated people with detailed stories to convince me.

  47. I really do hope that there's life somewhere out there and that we're not alone.

  48. Yes, I believe there are other life forms out there. I'm not sure I want to know what kind though. Marvin the Martian was good enough for me. Alf was good too.

  49. There has to be another life-form out there somewhere, or maybe more. Who are we to say otherwise, our technology isn't advanced enough yet to say we are the only creature in existence.
    Great post. :)

  50. Yay, Aliens! I've always believed=) I've even taken a vacation to Rachel, Nevada which is the "back gate" to Area 51... That's more of a UFO thing, but I stayed at The Little Ale'Inn (yes, the one from the movie Paul though I did not get to meet Jane Lynch) and went UFO watching=)

I look forward to coming back=)

  51. Definitely believe there has to be something more out there other than the human species. It should be an interesting encounter if I ever get to experience it in my lifetime :)

Stopping by from the A to Z Challenge and looking forward to your posts !

  52. If they're smart and it appears so, I mean after all we have no real proof - they'll stay away!

    ReplyDelete
  53. I totally agree, the universe is far too vast for us to be alone in it. Whether we'll make contact with others any time soon, I have no idea.
