Bits and Pieces of My Writer's Life

  1. Research is one of my favorite things to do as an author. I've researched so many things over the years, even if it is just for one detail in a story that no one else will likely pick up on, I find myself researching. Sometimes reality is much stranger than fiction! I know bits of me mingle with my characters, and I think that makes our characters more believable.

    1. I agree. I researched about what happens to a body after death and how long it takes to die after slicing a persons wrists, I felt the need to clear my browser...LOL

  2. The thing I do in my writing is incorporate personalities of people I have met/know. It helps make the characters more multidimensional and real.

    1. I do the same. I wonder if most writer's take others that we know, and bits and pieces of ourselves when we are creating...

  3. I watched all those shows growing up, but definitely didn’t know any families like that. I wanted one of those families though. Maybe that’s why I write cozies.

  4. I do use themes and elements from the real world that either fascinate or bother me, for instance cults and why they suck people in. In my dystopia, Ruby's Fire, Ruby was running from a very toxic desert cult. I also LOVE to do research.
